Book Description:
The Siege of Mobile, 1780, in Maps; with Data on Troop Strength, Military Units, Ships, Casualties, and Prisoners of War including a Brief History of Fort Charlotte (Condé) by William S. Coker and Hazel P. Coker, published by The Perdido Bay Press as Volume IX in the Spanish Borderlands Series in 1982. This Book is a Softcover measuring 6" x 9" with viii+123 pages. In the summer of 1980, the Pensacola Historical Society invited author William S. Coker to speak about the siege of Pensacola in 1781. Since so much had been written about the siege, he thought that he would be unable to come up with a new approach, but decided to prepare a series of maps depicting the siege on virtually a day-to-day basis. With the help of his wife, this work was written and published as The Siege of Pensacola, 1781, in Maps. An invitation by the University of Alabama to speak at the 150th anniversary of the university's founding provided the impetus for this book, The Siege of Mobile, 1780, in Maps, which utilizes the same approach as the Cokers' previous book.
