The first edition of this work.A guide to the 1951 Festival of Britain, a national exhibition and fair originally held to celebrate the centennial of the 1851 Great Exhibition. The 1951 Festival did not focus on international themes, however, and focuses on Britain and its achievements in the post World War Two environment.Illustrated in colour throughout, mostly with charming adverts for various products, a total of sixty-four pages of adverts throughout.By Ian Cox, who devised the theme of the Exhibition, and who was the Director of the Science and Technology Exhibition and held various other responsibilities. In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally, smart, with a few light marks and rubbing to the wraps. A little wear to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with just a couple of light handling marks. Very Good Indeed
