Published by Collins Clear-Type Press, c.1900. First edition thus. Undated. Illustrated Pocket Classics. Illustrated by Paul Hardy. 448pp. Condition: Good.

Bound in original red cloth boards with title and decoration in gilt to the spine. Some fading to the spine and a little rubbing, bumping, and slight marking to the boards, but the binding is otherwise in smart condition. Inside, the pages are clean, bright and free from marks or damage save for the usual toning and some cracking to the spine inside the front board..

In all, this is a smart edition of this historical novel by Dumas, the fourth in his 6 book series the Marie Antoinette Romances, set during the French Revolution. It is set several years after 'The Queen's Necklace', and following the story of Ange Pitou, a peasant who becomes involved in the revolution. It was first published in 1846, and is part of the 'Marie Antoinette romances'.
