Collated complete. Volume two is illustrated with a portrait frontispiece, twenty-six full-page plates and numerous vignette illustrations. Collated complete. An interesting work regarding William Makepeace Thackeray's connections with the United States, including an account of his American tours, as well as letters to his American friends. With a bibliography by Frederick S. Dickson. William Makepeace Thackeray was a famous British novelist and illustrator known for his satirical works. He is best known for his 1848 novel, 'Vanity Fair'. James Grant Wilson was an American editor, writer and publisher best known for founding the, 'Chicago Record'. He also served as president of the Society of American Authors. The half title pages are present. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some light shelf wear to the edges. Bumping to the upper spine and front board of volume two. The spines are darkened. Light marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age-toned to the edges but otherwise very bright and clean. Several pages are uncut throughout. Very Good Indeed
