About This Item

Condition: As-new hardcover with unclipped dustjacket ($16.00). FIRST EDITION FIRST PRINTING Caldecott Medal book; no award sticker on cover. Signed by author/illustrator on copyright page: "Oink, oink - David Wiesner - 2001". Included is a pristine publisher brochure, 4 double-sided pages with descriptions of Wiesner's other books.

Summary: Wiesner is known for his remarkable facility in turning new and old tales on their ears with engaging flights of fancy--using the expansive pages of a picture book to delight readers. In The Three Pigs, the pigs leap the boundaries of the classic tale, drawing characters from other tales into their adventure.

Synopsis

The Three Pigs is a book by David Wiesner. Released by Clarion/Houghton Mifflin, it was the recipient of the Caldecott Medal for illustration in 2002, Wiesner's second of three honors. The plot begins to follow the traditional story of the Three Little Pigs, but soon the three pigs are blown from the pages of the storybook. Wiesner said, on the backflap of the book, that this book was inspired by the pigs at the end of his previous Caldecott book, Tuesday.
