About This Item
Spokane, Washington: Arthur H. Clark Co, 1999. First Edition. Octavo. 400pp. One of only 1008 copies printed. Signed and with the errata slip laid in. A reliable and well-written general history of Tombstone's discovery, development as a mining metropolis, and eventual decline before tourism brought a partial resurgence. Nice portraits of the Tribolet brothers, the Bilicke family, Charles Brown, Thomas J. Bidwell, and C. S. Fly, Certainly, the best description of the city. The author's dislike to the Earps will irritate those who want to relive the mythical image of Walter Noble Burns classic account. Although the most important book on the subject, the authors reliance on Frank Water's work on the Earp Brothers is a weak point of another wise masterful work. Bound in light brown cloth, spine lettered in gilt, endpapers are maps of the city, A fine copy in fine unclipped pictorial dust jacket. [Clark & Brunet, II, 257.].
