These are the first U.K. editions published, after copies of the Obelisk Press edition had been smuggled in to the country. In the 1960s Scotland Yard debated banning the publication of the book, however they decided to publish, as eminent literary figures were publicly defending the book. Among the works defenders was T. S. Eliot.'Tropic of Cancer' is a novel regarded now as an important work in twentieth century literature, notorious for its candid sexuality.
