Dust Jacket: Light toning and shelf wear on the covers. The flaps are unclipped and the original retail price is displayed (photo). Wrapped in a protective mylar cover.

Book: There is a small barely visible dent on the front board. The pages are moderately toned and lightly water spotted but still in remarkable condition given the fact that this book is almost 60 years old.

The binding is tight and firm. The book lies flat, plumb, and square. The board tips are not bent. Gilt lettering on the spine is still bright and glistening (photo). All pages are present. No marks or entries. The paste-downs have a Sketch Map of Anacher and District (photo).

Very Rare Copy. This particular British copy is difficult to find in any condition. The book was republished for the American audience under the title, "A Man From the Mist." This is the author's first of only three publishings before her untimely death three years later at age 47. Elgin enjoyed tremendous popularity in the Romantic Novel genre and has legions of fans continuing to the present day.

To staid old Charleston she was a prim civic leader. To her husband she was an imperious and frigid companion. This was the first Amy - my aunt. Then, one day, in the stately drawing room of the sadistic Miss Wescott, I watched as my aunt tremulously stripped on command. She emerged a voluptuous nude animal exulting in any sexual act, her appetite whetted by any perversion. Shuddering with anticipation, screaming in pain and joy, she was insatiable.
