The three volume set published in 1964 from the Lewis Historical Publishing Company. All three volumes have gold lettering on spine, and very light shelf wear which consists of light rubbing to the blue buckram covered boards. All three volumes have light foxing to the pastedowns, volume 1 and 3 have light foxing in the gutters on the half title page and title page. None of the three volumes have foxing beyond the title page. Books are tight, clean, sturdy, and have no markings. First volume contains early Georgia history prior to the Civil War. Volume Two is the Civil War and Post Civil War. Volume 3 has bigraphical information on prominent Georgians. Many illustrations in all three volumes. A handsome set that will give many years of service.

Signed and inscribed by the author to the previous owner," Presented to Mrs. Lula Hitch Chapmore by the author Mrs. J. L. Walker 1939". Binding is very firm, hinges and gutters are whole and good, pages are a higher quality slick paper. Leather embossed covers are firmly attached with title in gilt on spine all present and still pretty bright along with several decorations. Hinges on both front and rear are starting, more so the back hinge. Hand sewn signatures are firmly secure and all pages are present. All illustrations are present-with the exception of the one on page 469--only half of that page is present--it's a page of engravings Colonels in the regiment. All the illustrations have foxing of varying amounts. Most of the tissue guards are present, some are not, and that has created some foxing to the text before or behind the illustration but the foxing does not obsure any print. A few other pages have a small amount of foxing started by a fingerprint. I found 2 pages missing a corner- pages 33 through 36. The book was also stamped with the library's name on the front paste down and the rear paste down, nothing is marked or stamped in the interior pages. The pages are a mellowed white color. The binding is tight. The lower front corner is lightly bumped. The boards are covered with a brown textured buckram, gold lettering, and a picture of the painting depicting the "Filthy Thirteen" getting ready for their flight and jumping into Normandy. No wear to inside or outside of book. High quality paper, lots of maps, lots of photos, lots of information about each member of the Filthy Thirteen (these guys were the inspiration for the Dirty Dozen').
