Unrestored, with great, nicely matched colors and all minor original issues addressed in conservation. Fine.The classic 1960s action-crime thriller, with an iconic performance by Steve McQueen playing the San Francisco cop who becomes obsessed with finding the underground leader responsible for the deaths of witnesses in his protection. Here is one of the finest and most rare posters for this classic title. This example does not appear to have ever been used. Prior to expert linen backing, it showed only very minor shelf wear and shows just minor shelf wear, such as three minor fold juncture separations, a bit of creasing at the very edges and a few minor spots of soiling in the white background. An extremely rare Swedish poster for this early Swedish film classic by Bergman -- a semi-horror film (about a charlatan magician who may or may not have any true powers) which had an enormous impact when released in the US and UK soon after its Swedish debut (I personally saw it as a kid, and it scared the hell out of me when I first saw it!). The original Swedish title translates as ""The Face"", and it was under that title (or a translation of it) that it was shown in many countries, including the UK and Italy, but in the US it was given the slightly more provocative title The Magician. On linen, with the most trifling professional touch-ups at folds and margins, overall a superb example (and the only one which I have ever had), FINE.

This rare poster has been professionally conserved and now displays like new, on linen, very good.Italian version of the famous story based on the Victorien Sardou play, a print of which is still in existence. A stunning Art Nouveau-style portrait of star Francesca Bertini as Floria Tosca. This prolific star of the Italian cinema, one of film's first true divas, was also a writer and director. She made the first of her 140 films in 1907 and her last in 1976 (most were made before 1935), Bertolucci's 1900.Bertini was the ultimate diva of 1910s-era Italian film, the most celebrated and most adulated of Italian movie actresses of her generation. Dennis O'Keefe, Margo, Jean Brooks, Isabel Jewell, James Bell, dir: Jacques Tourneur; RKO. The graphics are outstanding and the poster in fine condition. It was stored folded and has fold wear. This minor fold wear and fold joint wear has been reinforced on the verso along the vertical center fold with archival tape. It does not appear to have been displayed, about fine.
Though RKO seldom ventured into the horror realm, for a few years during the 1940s -- with Jacques Tourneur and Val Lewton at the helm -- they did, and of course produced some of the finest in atmospheric horror posters. This one does not disappoint.

On linen, there was some fold line separation, especially at edge borders, there has been some minor inpainting in the area of the words "MY" and "LIPS", but poster has extraordinary, bright, original colors, near fine.An extremely rare poster and one of the earliest to feature star Clara Bow prominently. Long believed to be a lost film, a nitrate print was found and has been preserved. The film is a romance with a suspense twist in which William Powell plays the debonair character he became famous for and Clara Bow as the ultimate jazz baby.

Newman, Jack Arnold: Universal. Poster is rolled and displays a fair amount of creasing at edges, particularly at the top and bottom. There is inner creasing, more evident in the title box area. Tears at edges have been repaired with brown tape and there are a few small unrepaired edge tears. The top image portion with portrait of Domergue and Reason and the alien to the right is a pasteover and the foot area of the alien has lifted slightly, very good.One of the top science fiction classics of the 1950s. The story involved aliens coming to Earth to engage scientists in a scheme to wage war and destroy the planet. Blystone; Hal Roach/MGM. On linen, near fine.One of the finest of all posters by the legendary artist Al Hirschfeld. MGM employed Hirschfeld numerous times throughout the 1930s to design campaigns for several comedies in his unique caricature art, and particularly for the great comedy team of Laurel and Hardy. Operetta was combined with comedy in this story of two mousetrap salesmen who hope to strike it rich in Switzerland. They are swindled out of their money by a cheese maker and must work off their hotel debt. One way is by moving the piano of an operetta composer (whose chambermaid wife Ollie has fallen in love with) across a rope bridge over the Alpines, a bridge on which they meet a gorilla. There has been touch-up to the folds, with some extra touch-up in the "H" of "WITH" and the "O" of "ZOMBIE". There has also been some touch-up and repair to the blank white margins and at corners, and there were a few tiny bits of missing paper along the top edge, near fine.The story (based on Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre) of a nurse who ventures to the West Indies to care for the wife of a plantation manager. She falls in love with him and seeks to cure the wife of her mental paralysis by involving herself in a native voodoo ceremony. A brilliant and atmospheric tale produced by master Val Lewton, the horror suggested by the use of lighting, shadows and camera work. The images on this poster are scary and the graphics bold, reflecting the feel of this suspenseful classic.

Traveling to Monte Carlo, he gambles with money supplied to him by his compatriots. Fortunately he wins, breaking the bank. The casino loves the publicity it could bring them, particularly should he return to the tables, but instead he warns the public of the hazards of gambling. Motif Editions. No binding. Fine. Andy Warhol (producer) [London]: Motif Editions, 1970. Vintage original 30 x 20" (76 x 51 cm.) British poster. Unfolded, fine. Andy Warhol's massive 3 1/2-hour film Chelsea Girls was meant to be presented on two screens with only one of the two available soundtracks being played (the projectionist could choose which two soundtracks to use). The film had some kind of truncated showing in London soon after the New York premiere in 1966.In 1968 it received its first intact screenings in London, with the two screens simultaneously showing the different reels of film as intended. For that four-day event, pop illustrator Alan Aldridge created this poster for the London Arts Laboratory. The young woman in it is Chare Shentsone, 16, a budding artist who later became close to Francis Bacon. There was an edition of this poster printed in 1968 to be posted outdoors over London. Lowe and John Patrick, and novelist credits to Earl Derr Biggers. Title page integral with the first page of text, as issued. 125 leaves, with last page of text numbered 121. Mimeograph, with blue revision pages throughout, dated variously between 5/16/36 and 5/28/36. Near fine in very good- printed wrappers, chipped on the binding and edges, brad bound. Script belonging to director H. Bruce Humberstone, with his holograph pencil annotations on the front wrapper and a typed note addressed to Humberstone from producer J.E. Grainger laid in with the script.The twelfth film in the long-running Charlie Chan detective series, featuring actor Warner Oland as the eponymous Honolulu detective.

The original typed manuscript of one of the most transgressive movies of its time. When the film had its initial release in 1975 it was genre-bending (and very definitely also gender-bending), and along with its mix of horror with musical comedy, was wildly off-putting to mainstream audiences. Of course, the road to its ultimate position as a cult classic followed.
This script bears a date of July 18, 1974, on its title page. There then follow three pages of typed notes reflecting numerous script revisions and changes in design choices, all of which had been made in the subsequent two months. There are over thirty changes notes, making this an especially interesting version to study.
Russo, pp. 52-53: "The 'gayest' film yet made by a major studio... Its most expert satire is of the age-old fear with which straight society encounters deviant sexuality."

Kenn Duncan. No binding. Fine. New York: Kenn Duncan, [ca. 1970s]. Set of seven (7) vintage original 14 x 11" (36 x 28 cm.) oversize double weight black-and-white print still photos. All with the stamp of photographer Kenn Duncan on verso, one with the sticker of the Cabaret nightclub. Fine.
After Dark was an entertainment magazine which was in print from 1968-83. Its primary readership was upscale gay men, especially those interested in the performing arts. Kenn Duncan was its principal photographer. The New York Public Library has a sizable collection of his photos in its collection.
This set of photos are of drag performers, very definitely including ones of color, at a drag nightclub in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, called the Cabaret. Each photo has a holograph notation on verso, presumably in Duncan's hand. In all, the photos document five different performers. One photo shows three of them in a drag version of Swan Lake. It would have been director Welles' second color film, following The Immortal Story (1968) which also starred Welles and Jeanne Moreau, and was shot by the same cinematographer, Willy Kurant. Near fine or better, signed by screenwriter Leigh Brackett on title page, which indicates it is a revised draft dated May 22, 1972.
The Long Goodbye, an adaptation of the 1953 private eye novel by Raymond Chandler, is a brilliantly written screenplay by one of the all-time great screenwriters, Leigh Brackett (1915-1978), an authoress whose other screen credits include The Big Sleep (another Chandler adaptation), Rio Bravo, El Dorado and The Empire Strikes Back.
Released in 1973, The Long Goodbye was the eighth feature film directed by Robert Altman, a filmmaker praised then and now as a master of genre deconstruction.
