" The beautiful wrap-around jacket art is by the great George Salter."sticker residue (small corner)on FFEP, and some erased pencil notations on rear end paper- other than that this book is very clean, tight, square and Tidy! NB* Witches Three, Fletcher Pratt, Fritz Leiber, James Blish, Twayne, New York, 1952, First Edition. One in the "Twayne Triplet" series. Edited(uncredited) by Mr. Pratt. Ten page introduction by John Ciardi entitled, "A Plea for Witches". Inscribed copy: "For Michael, with best wishes, Fritz Leiber, 1983." Collects three works featuring 'modern witches': the novel Blue Star(a new story) by Pratt; Leiber's brilliant gothic pastiche of academic life, Conjure Wife; & There Shall be no more Darkness, a novella from Blish. Some separation at pages, 62, 222 & 254. (see images). Boards a bit rubbed and soiled, but pages are clean and binding is otherwise holding nicely. Jacket presents better than the book with no noticeable fading on the spine, no significant chipping and only minor soiling on the rear jacket.(see also images) Inscription is on the title page next to Leiber's story. Purple cloth boards in un-clipped wrapper.Black & white plates done by Jack Smith are commensurate with the UK Peter Davies, however they are arranged differently here.Book has slight warp or bow - please see pics. Motorbooks, St Paul, MN, 2006, First Edition, Signed, Quarto, 192 p. this is the true first edition(2006) SIGNED by Dave Friedman!!!
Book has some edgewear from shelving, but is essentially Near Fine to Fine. Noted & esteemed photog Dave Friedman has signed to the striking dayglo green ffep/flyleaf. Jacket has light loss/damage to rear where a sticker has been removed. Very slight wear along extremities with some chafing, front & back is dust-dulled/rubbed but jacket is complete & bright; still has the promo "review postcard" affixed to rear inner flap.

Hodder & Stoughton, London, 1972, Third Impression, Octavo (9 1/2 " ht); 601 p. book has inscription to ffep and light foxing to top & foredge; otherwise this is a clean, fresh, square, tight example. Clipped Biro jacket is very nice with just minuscule loss at spine head. Overall a very well-preserved, pleasing & attractive copy.

The Minerva Press, London, 1971, Super Octavo (8 x 10.5"), 381 p. (published for The Minerva Press by Philip Wilson Publishers). red cloth binding with gilt top edge; twenty-four full page plates and numerous vignettes by legendary artist Harry Clarke; letter-press printed buttermilk-colored jacket with error - "Allen" on front flap; original retail price of $27.50, which computes to just a tick over $200 with today's inflation rate.
Book is in very fine condition with no noteworthy faults. Jacket has chipping at spine head with some loss, as well as a chip at spine tail. Upper flap folds shows a small chip. A touch of chafing is present along upper extremity. A lovely, well-preserved copy of The Minerva Press Edition of Poe's Tales of Mystery & Imagination.

bound in publisher's dark red cloth. Binding is tight & clean. The dust jacket shows edge wear and small tears; the jacket head cap has been neatly excised and is backed now with matching colored paper (removable). Interior pages are clean.

Binding is generally fresh and clean with only minor signs of wear. There is a "bubble" on the face hard by the spine near the top. The dust jacket is price clipped and shows general rubbing, wrinkling, edge & hinge wear etc. About 12mm of the jacket head cap is chipped away(now since replaced with removable 'matching' backing complete with missing title portion; not perfect in execution but perhaps better than looking upon a large chunk of white paper!); the tail also shows chipping and splitting along the hinges(this area also has matching backing paper to fill in). A 13 mm tear is present on the upper edge of the front wrap. No tape repairs/re-enforcements. The front end papers contain some very faint spotting. Interior pages are clean. Most leaves are unopened: (12 "signatures"). Paper is almost like card stock and is beautifully letterpress printed by the estimable firm of Jarrolds & Sons. A NF antiquarian conditon book with a more than acceptable wrapper(at least Good+).

binding is square, tight & clean. Pages are spotless. Wrapper has a small crease on reverse at top by the spine and another vertical crease close by. There is some minor rubbing and/or dust-dulling to both face and reverse, else Fine. As an appendix Rosemary Pardoe has included an amended form of The James Gang bibliography-now a twenty page work - in & of itself a valuable resource.

9 x 12" Oversize format; book has three bumped corners and edgewear along extremities-especially at spine heel. Edges are very lightly foxed. Internals are clean. Unclipped wrapper has some interior staining along hinge with a tiny bit of loss and more general foxing along interior of lower edge and a bit at upper edge. No tears, chips or creasing just mild shelfwear and a bit of dust-dulling.

book first published in Milan,1960 of which this is an adaptation. book's edges are very lightly foxed, small "smudge" on front cover; else "Fine." Clipped wrapper has a very small tear at spine tail and is heavily soiled on the reverse, lesser to the spine, including the rear hinge; there are no other tears, chips, or creases save for some lower edgewear to front. Scarce in wraps.
