London: Printed for I. Taylor, 1778. Second revised. Hardcover. Very Good. 9" x 11". From the title page: 'A New Edition, Revised and Corrected by the Author'. A very rare edition of this important work. I have not been able to identify any other copies of this particular edition. Very Good, in contemporary full calf binding with some scuffing and wear to boards. 'John Cole Portsmouth' written on title page, and a small inscription on verso flyleaf, otherwise very clean internals with very little foxing. Detailed digital images available upon request.

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1849. First American edition. Hardcover. Good. First American Edition. Original covers of brown embossed cloth. In Good condition with scattered light foxing and owner's inscription ("John R. Adams, 1849") on flyleaves. Volume I has been rebacked retaining the original covers and most of the spine. Volume II has a small loss to the top and bottom of the spine. Covers are bumped and worn at the extremities but in otherwise good shape. Detailed digital images abailable upon request.

London: Alec Tiranti, 1964. First edition. Hardcover. Fine/very good. This work collects and discusses Johnson's surviving published designs including those from Genteel Household Furniture (1762). Fine condition in very good priced-clipped jacket.

London: Batsford Ltd, 1947. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. One of 250 out of a total printing of 1000, specially printed on large paper and bound in red half morocco. A review of the shop signs employed in the 17th and 18th centuries, compiled from the author's collection of trade cards and billheads. Some shelf wear and minor soiling.

Boston: Special Publications, 1959. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. First edition, limited to 2000 copies. Red cloth covers with gilt titling. Fine, except for slight fading to spine. Slipcase very good, with minor rubbing and chipping to edges and corners.

London: Charles Knight & Company, 1837. First edition. Hardcover. Good. Blue-green gilt cloth covers in good condition but separating from body of text. Interior clean with very little foxing. Tears between cover and spine about one inch in at top and bottom, but no loss to spine. Early inscription on the front flyleaf. A scarce work.

Philadelphia (London): Henry Carey Baird, Industrial Publisher (Sampson Low, Son & Marston), 1876. First American edition. Hardcover. Very Good. This is the very scarce first American edition of this work. Remarkably well preserved copy in dark red embossed cloth covers with gilt-lettered spine. Light wear to top and bottom of spine. Inside very clean with only a small previous owner's stamp on the flyleaf, and virtually no foxing.

London: Batsford, 1909. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. A very good copy of this scarce and standard work. Some discoloration of front and rear flyleaf. Minor shelf wear. Top of pages gilded. Original charcoal grey boards with gilt lettering. Clean interior with no foxing. Pp. xv, 268, with 441 illustrations.

Boston: W. Andrews and L. Blake, 1807. First edition thus. Hardcover. Good. This is the "First American from the fifth London edition", as stated on the title page. Volume 1 and 2 of the three volumes. Original sheep boards with black gilt-lettered labels on the spine. About half of the label missing on the second volume. Covers and spine with scuffing and wear, but binding is still tight and square. Moderate toning and some foxing. Early inscription to inside covers.

New York: Johnson, Fry & Company, 1862. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good +. Quarter black calf over marbled boards, raised bands and gilt titles and spine decoration. Marbled endpapers. Unmarked except for early previous owner's inscription (see photo). Virually no foxing at all. First tissue guard is torn at bottom but others are intact. Biographical and historical narratives with many full-page engravings. 9" x 11". Some scuffing to leather and light wear to extremities, and light chipping to top of spine of volume 2. A very good plus copy of this beautifully produced work.

London: Architectural Review (presumed), No date. Second edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Inscription dated 1911. The first series of drawings and photographs of fine examples of architectural details. 10" x 13". Ivory cloth boards with red title label with gilt stamped lettering. Internals clean and fox-free. Previous owners' inscriptions on the flyleaf and the title page. Some light soiling and wear to covers and a lttle bumping of corners. Binding is tight and hinges sound.
