Fine minus book with slight shelf wear and touch of light soiling to tiny area front page edges. Oversize book approximately 11 inches tall by 7 inches wide. This is the lettered limited edition, J of 26 copies, bound in very dark blue leather with no jacket, as issued. Publisher's envelop lettered J laid-in with letter stating – Dear Collector, Contrary to our colophon page, this lettered state of Dark Rivers Of The Heart has been hand bound by Claudia Cohen in full Morocco leather with Fabriano Roma end-sheets and stamped in 22-carat gold. Enjoy, Charnel House. Signed on the limitation page by Koontz and Gervais. This copy housed in a Fine, blue drop-lid box custom made by bookbinder Mark Andersson, Panther Peak Bindery, Tucson. One of his business cards is laid-in.

First edition hardback, a Very Good copy with a long crease running down the middle part of the spine and traces of wear to cloth, front hinge just starting at bottom, slight bumping at head and heel and page blocks dusty, in a Very Good dust jacket with faint soiling to front and rear, a 1/2″ x 1/8″ chip at rear heel join, shallow chipping at head, and crease to top front corner. Inscribed twice by Smith (the first apparently with a fountain pen, the second with a ballpoint): "Clark Ashton Smith/Auburn, Cal/Nov. 27th, 1912" then "For Harry Rosenberry/with sincere compliments/of Clark Ashton Smith/Apr. 14th, 1961," which was exactly four months before his death. Collectible first edition of English essayist, poet and academic Arthur Christopher Benson's Basil Netherby, a collection of two posthumously published horror stories discovered by his brother Fred after A. C.'s death. In the context of his main body of work, Benson's two stories are joltingly anomalous, perhaps especially so given that his father was Edward White Benson (1829–1896), Archbishop of Canterbury. Scantily reviewed in its first appearance, "Basil Netherby" and its companion story, "The Uttermost Farthing" made little noise in British literature but through the years "Basil Netherby" especially has evolved into a work celebrated for its brilliance. Noted horror critic R. S. Hadji included Benson's "Basil Netherby" on a list of "unjustly neglected" horror books. SIGNED by Miko Hughes who played Gage Creed in the movie on the title page. "Now I want to play with you!" - Miko Hughes "Gage". Not clipped and has $15.95 price on dustjacket. Light edge wear. Earlier owners impression stamp on the half title page. In very good / near fine condition.

First edition first printing of this novel that became one of the best horror movies of all time. SIGNED and lined by Eileen Dietz who was the face of Pazuzu the demon in The Exorcist and possessed Regan ( Linda Blair's Character). Performing scenes that were deemed too scary or violent for Linda Blair, on the title page. Rear free end page has two tape stains to it. Button of Eileen as Pazuzu included. In near fine / near fine condition.

An excellent copy of M.R. James first collection of ghost stories in the publisher's original beige cloth binding. The third impression of the 1904 first edition with four illustrations, including frontispiece, by James McBryde who died leaving illustrations for the book unfinished.
The stories are: Canon Alberic's Scrapbook, Lost Hearts, The Mezzotint, The Ash-Tree, Number 13, Count Magnus, Oh, Whistle And I'll Come To You, My Lad and The Treasure Of Abbot Thomas.
Book is very good plus.
Boards are sturdy and are stamped in red and black. There are 2 red smudges on front board and a tiny tear to cloth at bottom corner of front board (barely perceptible when book is closed). Otherwise boards are Fine. Binding is sound.
Fore and bottom edges are untrimmed. Leaves are lightly age toned. Light age related brown spots to very early leaves and end papers. Otherwise, the leaves are remarkably clean.

Very good plus copy in publisher's original binding. It is author's second collection of ghost stories consisting of: A School Story, The Rose Garden, The Tractate Middoth, Casting The Runes, The Stalls Of Barchester Cathedral, Martin's Close and Mr. Humphreys And His Inheritance.
Book is very good plus at least. Rarely does one encounter a copy in such condition. There is a small mark (ink?) on front board. Some light soiling on a small portion of rear board. Book has a very slight forward lean.
Inernally, remarkably clean. The leaves are remarkably bright, free of foxing and not age toned.
Fore and lower edges are untrimmed. Endpapers (front and rear) are browned.
