Loosely inserted is a sample sheet of the paper originally produced for use on the cover, on Batchelor's Kelmscott moulds, but later deemed unsuitable. The first part of the book describes a visit made by Henry Morris to J. Barcham Green - the famous hand papermaking firm in England - giving a history of the firm and reproducing correspondence between William Morris and Joseph Batchelor regarding production of paper. The second part of the book reprints a number of letters written by Nathan Guilford during a trip to Kentucky in 1814.
