Previous owner's bookplate on inside front cover, as well as embossed ex-lib on Title Page and Contents Page. Inscribed by Lynwood Carranco on half title page.This book tells of one of the darkest chapters in California history, the literal genocide of Native Americans by European Americans in Round Valley, CA in Mendocino County.After an accusation of Plagiarism (determined to be "unintentional", but nonetheless damning) was brought forward by Virginia P. Miller, a former student of Lynwood Carranco, in 1985, the book was immediately withdrawn by University of Oklahoma Press.Despite the book being permanently out of print, it continues to be used as a source for major publications in the field of Native American studies.

Joseph Skelton, Oxford, England, 1830. First edition, two volumes. Full leather with gilt decoration around edges and on spine, five raised bands, marbled endpapers. Originally owned by Thomas M. Lowndes, his bookplate is on inside front cover. Some mild rubbing wear along edges, light scratching to top and bottom gilt page edges. Light foxing inside, pages clean. There are 73 plates in Volume I and 77 plates in Volume II. These volumes have been in the same family for three generations. Additional photos available upon request. Rare in this condition and binding.

Longman, Green, and Co., London, 1876-1878. Five volumes, Volume 1 through Volume 5. Corner and spine wear, some fraying at spine ends. Rubbing wear. Vol. II spine cloth is beginning to separate. Some light margin markings, foxing. Text pages are good. Newspaper clipping title "Religious Literature" by Ronald G. Macintyre included.

Also included are the following: photo of author dated October, 1963; photo of book signing; 1969 newspaper article honoring author at recent preview of the Golden Spike Album; her funeral program dated 12/7/75; Christmas card from 1966, signed by author, given to the Herrmanns; a signed copy of her poem titled "Reassurance" typed on her letterhead, dated 4/30/59.
The book is in good+ condition with minor wear; DJ is very good-, has some rubbing wear to front, in mylar cover. Text pages are very good, clean with no markings or writing; numerous black & white photos throughout.

The Christopher Publishing House, Boston, 1958 Rare First Edition copy; no other copies found. Signed by author. Newspaper clipping from 1969 abouth her passing included. Minor wear to blue covers, DJ has edge wear and tears, soiling. Text pages are very good, clean with no markings or writing.
