One of the hardest to find Seuss first editions. Written by Seuss using the pseudonym of LeSieg. 1st edition, 1st printing of number 19 in the Beginner Book series.Hardcover in VG condition with light tip wear and wear at top and bottom of binding. Dust Jacket has wear, chipping along top and bottom edge, a little age discoloration on inner top edge, a few indentations on front from pen or pencil pressure, and a small piece missing on bottom edge. No markings. Pages clean and crisp.

DJ also in good condition, minor chipping and small tears to top and bottom edge. Small piece missing on back top edge. Minor discoloration and sticker residue from price sticker.

New York: Grove, 1958, 1958. First Edition. SPECIALLY BOUND LIMITED EDITION, one of 100 numbered copies of the first appearance in English. (This copy is number 24). A landmark of existentialist literature. First published in French in 1957 as FIN DE PARTIE, the English translation was prepared by the author. The gilding to the front cover is fresh, but it is darkened on the slightly faded spine. There is a bit of shelfwear to the base of the spine, top edges are age toned. As with all copies of this book, the gutter is darkened at the point where the limitation leaf was bound in. Overall, an appealing copy of a rare state of a very important book. Housed in a clear vinyl wrapper.

Very good unclipped dust jacket with edge and spine end wear. Small paper loss at top of spine. Interior clean, bright and unmarked with light age toning to eps. Tip of one page improperly trimmed. Illustrated by Tibor Gergely who fled the Nazis for New York, where he illustrated one million Golden Books, plus two Important Wartime Lesson stories.
