Norman, OK: University of Oklahoma Press, 1981. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near fine. Description:
University of Oklahoma Press, 1981. Rare, out of print in fine/fine condition. DJ is in protective vinyl covering. Previous owner's bookplate on inside front cover, as well as embossed ex-lib on Title Page and Contents Page. Inscribed by Lynwood Carranco on half title page. This book tells of one of the darkest chapters in California history, the literal genocide of Native Americans by European Americans in Round Valley, CA in Mendocino County. After an accusation of Plagiarism (determined to be "unintentional", but nonetheless damning) was brought forward by Virginia P. Miller, a former student of Lynwood Carranco, in 1985, the book was immediately withdrawn by University of Oklahoma Press.Despite the book being permanently out of print, it continues to be used as a source for major publications in the field of Native American studies.
