These wares were first made in the same Jingdezhen kilns that produced blue and white porcelain during the Jiajing period (1522-1566), although there is evidence that suggests their production continued in China, well into the reign of Wanli (1572-1620), and that they were also produced in Zhangzhou kilns in the Fujian province. This type of porcelain began to appear on international markets between the second half of the 16th and early 17th centuries.
