From the publisher

Marshall's first cemetery was established in 1832, occupying 3/4 of what is now a city block between Green and Hanover Streets, West of the Fountain Circle. The cemetery location was changed in 1839 to its present location at S. Marshall Ave and Homer Rd (42.2567 and -84.9500). The graves from the first cemetery were moved in 1840.The Oakridge Cemetery property is 65 acres in size and composed of four developed sections. Oakridge Cemetery is one of the oldest and historic operating cemeteries in Michigan. The Department of Public Works is the department responsible for the management and the general care of the Cemetery property grounds. In addition to routine property maintenance, the Public Works employees also typically complete approximately 90 internments each year in the cemetery. Oakridge Cemetery is a place of natural beauty and order. The cemetery is composed of four sections, Old Ground (OG), New Ground Addition (blank), Snyder Addition (S), and Williamson Addition (W), the values in parenthesis are referenced in this publication. This is a transcript of Book I, covering the years 1826 to 1961 and includes 10,684 burials. The youngest person who died of "old age" was 52 (sorry about that). Lydia Winn and Olive Ellis both died at the age of 105 (cause was not old age). Names were copied exactly. Some place names and causes of death were corrected for consistency.Internments are listed alphabetically, followed by a list arranged by their location. This should help in finding families buried near each other or for locating these graves if you have the opportunity to visit the Oakridge Cemetery.
