The ABCs of Lung Cancer: for Patients and Advocates Paperback - 2016

Dusty Donaldson became a lung cancer advocate immediately following her lung cancer diagnosis in September 2005. She volunteered with several nonprofit organizations for approximately five years. In 2010, with the support of her husband Tony and her children, Kimberly, Kirk and Amy, Dusty founded the Dusty Joy Foundation (dba LiveLung), a 501(c)(3) with a mission of advancing lung cancer awareness, early detection and compassion for people impacted by lung cancer. She is co-leader of the Lung Cancer Action Network (LungCAN). Prior to her diagnosis, Dusty was a journalist at daily newspapers in Virginia and North Carolina. She earned several journalism awards from the Virginia Press Association. She later became a communications and media relations specialist. She earned a BA in journalism from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia and an MA in public policy journalism from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She also earned a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University. Dusty lives in High Point, North Carolina, with her husband and their four rescue kitties: Boots, Xena, Buttons, and Butterscotch. Kimberly Lester became a lung cancer advocate after her mother's lung cancer diagnosis in 2005. Since then she has devoted much of her free time supporting the lung cancer cause through social media, artistic designs, charity events and many other ways. Her creative skillsets in the areas of writing and design have proven valuable in elevating awareness. Kimberly contributes to the day-to-day activities of the Dusty Joy Foundation and LungCAN while holding a fulltime position. Currently, she is a Technical Writer at Jenzabar in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Kimberly earned a BS in Professional Writing from Old Dominion University in Virginia. She lives in the Shenandoah Valley with her husband Kirk and a kitty who sleeps all day. Her adult son, Jacob, lives nearby.
