Produced on the occasion of the homonymous exhibition curated by the artist's eldest son, Rodrigo de Castro and held in 2014 at the Institute of Contemporary Art (IAC) of São Paulo. Amilcar de Castro (Paraisópolis 1920 - Belo Horizonte 2002) was a celebrated sculptor and was one of the most emblematic figures of the post-war era. Born in Minas Gerais, artist Amilcar Augusto Pereira de Castro, was also a sculptor, engraver, draftsman, designer, set designer, teacher that demonstrated an avant-garde vision and genius by managing to capture the country's contradictions and transpose them into geometric shapes in the form of art using iron, a material characteristic of his works.
