About This Item
Paris: Bibliothèque-Charpentier [no date]. (hardcover) lxxii, 575pp, [1]. Good. Undated (c.late 1800s; presumed later than 1861 Edition). 16mo. Bound in full leather, acid-treated for marbling effect; spine with raised bands, compartments decorated with simple-rules in gilt, title compartment lettered in gilt with dark-leather accent beneath; top board with half-binding decorative borders at hinge and corners. Marbled eps. While attractive enough as a decorative leather binding, the binding is - to be perfectly blunt - rather amateurish. It's acceptable enough, but certainly not the work of any great binder
Volume with some blemishes. Boards beginning to crack at hinges; starting at gutters. Textblock age-toned and somewhat brittle; consequently, occasional chipping and small closed-tears at edges. Spot of toning near bottom corner of title-page, ever-so slightly toning through to next leaf. Text in French. Eugène Fasquelle, Éditeur. Printed by Émile Colin (Lagny).
