New York: Crescent Books, 1996. Originally published in 1982, this is the First Printing Thus of a new 1996 edition, with the appropriate "number line" ending in a "1." The book is in Fine condition with a Very Good+ dust jacket (click on photo). Rebecca West captures the new century as it was in the world of politics, art and literature, music, theatre, science, philosophy, psychiatry, and major events. The book includes black-and-white period photographs throughout to highlight West's insightful and stirring text. The book is bound in green covered boards with gilt spine lettering and green endpapers. There is a remainder dot on the bottom edge. The dust jacket has edge rubbing and several tiny tears, including one on the top spine tip that the former owner repaired with tape. The book measures 10 1/8 by 8 1/2 inches and includes 192 pages, with Index.. First Edition Thus. Hard Cover. Fine/Very Good+. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
