A 1947 aerial view of Brooklyn looking southeast shows Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues, a major thoroughfare from the Manhattan Bridge to Jamaica Bay. The four-lane roads include trolley tracks, three trolley cars visible in the foreground.
Business surrounding the intersection include: McLoughlin Bros. Bar and Chop House (and its Ladies Café), Cadillac Wines & Liquors, and the White Rose Tavern. A billboard above the tavern advertises Hiram Walker whiskey.The trolley station, barbershop, travel agent, New York Beauty School, and Hollywood Restaurant are also seen.
