Each illustration is divided into three horizontal sections. The upper and lower strips depict several words which begin with the designated letter(s) of the alphabet. Bound in illustrated paper covered cloth boards with stapeled pages. Boards have wear present to the extremities of the boards (stain present to the rear panel, light soiling present). No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. Christian Scholz attended the private school de Laspée in Wiesbaden and then worked as a commercial traveler for the father's stationery company. His travels took him to Holland and Switzerland. The publisher "Jos. Scholz" moved to Mainz in 1830, where Christian Scholz built him into a successful international company. From 1832 to 1835 he was the owner together with his brother Anton, then sole proprietor. Importance of the publisher in the production of lithographs for different uses. In addition, he positioned himself from 1840 as one of the first children's book publishers . The production included "the needs of the children's world": picture books , picture sheets , coloring pages, board games , paper theater, etc. In the books for children and teenagers general knowledge and good behavior should be taught. In addition, the publisher published narrative literature with a moral claim. The Mainz writer Kathinka Zitz-Halein (1801-1877) showed herself to be the author of such moral narratives. The archive of the disbanded in the 1970s publishing house was destroyed in the war in 1945. Numerous products of the assortment (books, paper theater, etc. ) can be found in the Mainz City Library .
