About This Item

Edward Arnold & Co., London, 1936. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. First edition, first issue, retaining the four-page 'A Flood in the Office' sequence (pp.278-282) which was excited from all subsequent states following libel action. 8vo. viii, 351pp. Blue cloth lettered in gold at the spine, and with the publisher's blue top edge stain, which is lightly faded. A touch of light bruising to the backstrip ends, some light partial toning to the free endpapers, and just a trace of spotting to the fore edge and to several preliminary leaves. A very good copy in very good non-price-clipped dust wrapper, lightly toned at the spine panel, rubbed with several tiny fractions of edge-loss, and a little light fox spotting. A very nice copy of this miscellany of circa eighty Forster articles, essays, reviews and poems collected from the pages of assorted periodicals..

Synopsis

This collection of articles, essays, reviews, and poems, written by the author of A Passage to India, contains such well-known pieces as "Notes on the English Character,' 'Adrift in India," and "Me, Them and You." Also collected are essays on literary figures whose work Forster especially admired.
