About This Item
Egg Harbor City, New Jersey: Atlantic County Historical Society, 1963. Special Limited Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. 4to 11" - 13" tall. Jack E. Boucher. One of 1,000 copies in a Limited Edition but unnumbered and thus out of series. Apparently unread, spine still crackles. Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound in hardcover format, blue linen cloth over boards, gilt lettering to front cover and spine, fetching gilt illustration of a lighthouse to front cover, stamped quite distinctly. Brilliant of interior, clean and unmarked, no rubbing to extremities. Bright and shiny dust jacket, illustrated, little worn beyond slight scuffing to spine head and foot, machine- but not price-clipped. Some dust jackets with very faint blue spots from the printing process. A fine and accessible social history of part of the Pine Barrens of South Jersey (but made infamous by a The Sopranos episode), complete with accounts of aboriginal times when the Absegami Native Americans inhabited the area all the way to 1873. Folded color map attached to rear pastedown. Augmented with over 100 black-and-white photographs and other illustrations by Jack Boucher (1931-2012) , a full-time photographer for the Historic American Buildings Survey (H.A.B.S.). From the personal estate of Boucher, conveyed to me by the previous owner, Dale Sorenson. Multiple copies available, one with "M. VII" penned in at Page of Limitation. [4], 5-149 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
