Fifth crime novel by this British judge, writing under a pen name, though only the third to be published in America, and featuring ex-safecracker Ambrose Low, his wife Elizabeth, and Colonel Brain. Of particular note is the jacket art, by Andy Warhol, before he found fame in the pop art world; there is also a jacket blurb by P. G, Wodehouse. Hardcover in jacket, as pictured; stated first edition (first printing). Light wear to book; corners rubbed & tanned; price-clipped jacket shows some chipping, tanned spine; endsheets & pages tanned, couple of small stains to top edge. Text clean, no names or marks. .
