Colombo: W. Skeen, Government Printer, 1862. [Sri Lanka] FIRST PRINTED EDITION. Duodecimo booklet (17 x 11cm), pp.[8] 113 [3]. Publisher's light blue card, sewn, with titles to upper. Gently toned throughout. Light wear and spotting to covers. A rare survival, last seen at auction in 2008. Very good. An official report, and the personal diary of the British ambassador sent from Madras to negotiate with King Kirti Sri of Kandy (Sri Lanka) over assistance against Dutch settlers in 1762. Printed from the government records of Madras for the first time.
