Charles Scribner's Sons, 1943. Cloth. Very Good/Poor. Cardinal Spellman of New York City was military vicar of the Armed Forces of the United States during World War II. Slightly smaller book, red cloth, gilt facsimile signature on front fine, near fine gilt lettering on spine, world map of Spellman's world travels inside covers and adjacent end papers, browned at inside front cover right and first front end paper top, left and bottom, 266 light browned pages, pp. 144-5 more browned by news clipping on Pope Pius XII, very slightly browned on pp. 4-5 as well. DJ heavy paper, title and borders in black and red, brown edge of stain at top front edge, spine very slight browned with edge of stain at bottom, edge of stain at top back as well, photo with troops of 9th Army Air Force at top back, worn and torn with chips at spine bottom. Poor DJ/Very Good+ book--letters to his father.
