About This Item
Buffalo, NY: The Aircraft, 1941. Newsletter. 4p., 8.5x11 inch newsletter, very good but for penned note at the end stating "Curtiss Aeroplane employees in dependent union." Issued by a union more cooperative with management than the CIO, which this issue harshly attacks. Discusses the expulsion of two members who had "slandered and libeled the Officers, the Council and the attorney of the Union... For six months these two members had kept both The Aircraft and the plant in constant turmoil. Out to rule or ruin, they had caused The Aircraft to lose over 10,000 man hours in meetings at which they did little but obstruct its orderly proceedings." Goes on to say that "They have announced they have gone over to the CIO because it is a democratic organization. The Aircraft wishes to congratulate them and the CIO on finding each other. With their untruthfulness, their revolutionary ideas, their simon-pure Russian democracy, the CIO will find them a wonderful addition to its membership!" States that "The CIO pulls strike after strike in plants doing defense work! In six years The Aircraft never found it necessary to strike - yet getting the best deal possible for Curtiss workers!" Concludes with a challenge to the CIO "to determine, through legal means, whether the Curtiss workingman wants The Aircraft or the CIO for his bargaining unit.
