Description:
Chicago: America First Committee, 1941. 14p., staplebound pamphlet, very good. Inside of front cover has a red pencil note that it was obtained from the AFC in Chicago. Lindbergh argues against going to war with Germany, stating that such a war would be unwinnable, whereas no nation would ever succeed at attacking the United States. He calls for the isolationist pursuit of an "independent American destiny." The America First Committee was the largest isolationist group in the run-up to US participation in the war; critics lambasted the repackaging of German propaganda and anti-Semitic tropes by some of its representatives.

Description:
Buffalo, NY: The Aircraft, 1941. Newsletter. 4p., 8.5x11 inch newsletter, very good but for penned note at the end stating "Curtiss Aeroplane employees in dependent union." Issued by a union more cooperative with management than the CIO, which this issue harshly attacks. Discusses the expulsion of two members who had "slandered and libeled the Officers, the Council and the attorney of the Union... For six months these two members had kept both The Aircraft and the plant in constant turmoil. Out to rule or ruin, they had caused The Aircraft to lose over 10,000 man hours in meetings at which they did little but obstruct its orderly proceedings." Goes on to say that "They have announced they have gone over to the CIO because it is a democratic organization. The Aircraft wishes to congratulate them and the CIO on finding each other. With their untruthfulness, their revolutionary ideas, their simon-pure Russian democracy, the CIO will find them a wonderful addition to its membership!" States that "The CIO… Read More

Description:
Boston: constructed by the author, 1919. Ephemera. Pp.1-92 are covered with neatly clipped and laid-down news stories from The Boston Traveller daily, in which Brown had a regular column --or plenty of exposure at any rate. Pieces run consecutively January into June. The album is of quality manufacture with a leather spine tooled gilt, alphabetical tabs preceeding the numbered pages (140 all told), and a careful owner with a pot of good glue and considerable dexterity. The backstrip leather is mildly abraded along joints, a handwritten label is taped to cover, and front endsheet is very foxed. A generally sound clean item that could have been put together clumsily. Several columns are devoted to the question of trans-Atlantic flight; "shouldn't be more dangerous than wartime combat" is Brown's summation. Contents a melange of post-war advances in aerial weaponry, grim aerial photos (of damage at Verdun, etc.), increase of speed, passenger carriage, on & on. Transatlantic flight imagined.
