About This Item
London, Phoenix, 1999. Soft Cover. xiv, 369 p., illus., 23.5 cm. Biography of the British military writer and theorist. A casulty of WWI trenches, Liddell Hart argued for armored, fast moving armies. The Germans and, eventually, Americans took him up on it. He believed in the "indirect approach" and much of this revealing book is indirect (we learn that his 1970 holiday wih Montgomery was the last, but of previous?). The most substantial revelation is LH's manipulation of the German generals he admired and whose admiration of him he, an alchemist, turned from common metal into gold. Stock #29,416. Vg/ wrappers.
