New York: Modern Age Books, 1939. First Edition. Wrappered Issue. Quarto (28cm); pictorial card wrappers; 21pp [text] + 70pp illus. Modest rubbing to joints and extremities, some faint creasing to wrappers, with a few faint scuffs to front cover; Very Good. Reproductions of Quintanilla's subtle pencil sketches of scenes from the Spanish Civil War; this was probably the most popular of the many such sketchbooks that appeared in the wake of the conflict. With an introduction by Ernest Hemingway. There was a simultaneous "deluxe" edition of 400 copies in boards. HANNEMAN B34.
