Paris: Robert Delpire, 1958. First edition and first printing. Small oblong hardcover. Edited by Alain Bosquet and includes numerous brief texts in French by Simone de Beauvoir, Erskine Caldwell, William Faulkner, John Steinbeck, and other on pages facing the stunning group of black and white images by Frank. A clean and tight very near fine copy in Saul Steinberg illustrated boards with some slight toning to the spine and a tiny tap to the bottom front corner and to the top of the spine. No dust jacket as issued. A much nicer copy than usual of an inherently fragile book. (Roth p. 150).
