About This Item

New York and Evanston: Harper & Row Publishers. Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket. (1958). Possibly a 1st US Edition?. Hardcover. No Date or Edition noted. The Copyright gives 1958 and from the style/format of the book that could be correct? But please do your own research on this? . Black boards with bright gilt titling to the spine and a small gilt stamped publishers' logo on the bottom corner of the front board. In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket. Dustjacket is clipped on the top and bottom edges of the front and rear flaps. The base colour to the spine of the d/j is faded but all lettering/titling is still very clear and bright. The d/j is rubbed losing a small amount of the surface to the edges due to shelfwear/age. There is a sticker on the front cover/spine of the d/j stating "A Harper Blue Ribbon book -This seal identifies a book of tested Excellence conforming to the highest editorial standards. ". The page fore-edges are slightly stained/browned to the top edge and are lightly and uniformly browned/tanned on the irregular 'rough cut' page edges. NO Inscriptions or other Marks. (xxv) + 256 pp. Illustrated in b/w. Double page plans; Index. Apart from the minor 'faults' noted above, this is overall a Very Clean, Tight and Bright Near 'VG' copy. " 'American Aces' relates the most exciting missions flown by twelve foremost American pilots* during the last war, both in Europe and the Far East. The author takes you into the cockpit....." * Major John R. Alison; First Lieutenant John D. Landers; Colonel Bruce K. Holloway; First Lieutenant James A. Goodson; Captain J. T. Robbins; Major Francis S. Gabreski; First Lieutenant John. Godfrey; First Lieutenant Robert S. Johnson; Captain Henry W. Brown; Colonel Charles H. Macdonald; Colonel J. C. Meyer; Lieutenant Colonel Joseph L. Thury; ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
