About This Item
Chicago: The American Book Collector, 1972. Paperback. Small 4to. Pictorial wrappers. 32pp. Illustrations, advertisements. Very good. Lightly age toned (mainly to outer wrappers, else tight and nice. Attractive issue of this long-running bibliophilic monthly -- not its original iteration under Americana legend Charles Heartman (which ceased in 1935 after only 36 issues), but its second life under Thorsen (which endured for 22 years). Front wrapper touts the lengthy cover article "Book Collecting in the Field of Children's Literature" by Justin Schiller and depicts an outlandish Edward Lear illustration, while other articles include James Lamar Weygand's series "News and Reviews of Private Presses," Herbert Faulkner West covers the London Book Fair and the usual mix of reviews, etc.
