Per DJ front flap: "The people who were there created the contents of this remarkable book. Millions of words have described the American Civil War but little known is the pictorial reportage frequently created under fire by the great contemporary artists who were in action on every front." This includes work by Winslow Homer and Thomas Nast who contributed to Harper's Weekly, other artist-correspondents drew the vivid pictures that filled Frank Leslie's and other periodicals of the day.
Book Condition: Very Good+. Ivory paper over boards cover with gold gilt on front and spine. Bottom corners are "bent" and slight tanning to both top and bottom edges. Bent corners affected a very few pages. Otherwise clean and tight.
Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good-. Color is good with very slight rubbing; however top of spine has small closed tear and chip, and front top has a closed tear about 1 inch from the spine that is about 1.5" long.
Overall, a very nice book.324 pages. This is an oversize book and may require a small amount of extra postage.
