About This Item
Softcover, ISBN 0195402324
Publisher: OUP, Toronto, 1975
First edition. First and scarcer first printing; see number line Trade paperback. New NEW and unopened never read but on front is a small abrasion or paper adhesion. 177 p. Includes illustrations. This IS new and obviously never read because of the way it opens--never been fully opened--but it has two defects: the paper used by OUP was not acid-free and as a result it is heavily toned, giving the impression of an older book. AND on the front is a paper abrasion. For these reason I can not grade it new and have graded it fINE. Please do note atht abrasion, clearly visible on the scan. First edition. First printing. De Cosmos was born William Alexander Smith and changed his name in San Francisco. He became a leading and controversial figure in Victoria B.C. He launched and edited the local paper and became the second premier of British Columba 1872-1874. Desoite the defects I have mentioned, this book is outstandingly better than almost all copies offered on the Net
