The Ancient and Present State of Gloucestershire, complete copy with 8pp of copper-engraved coats of arms, double-page map, plus 64 copper-engraved birds-eye views of country seats and estates by Johannes Kip, the plates now mounted on guards, a few minimal marginal repairs to foot of central fold, short early ink manuscript note to (original) blank, generous margins, exceptionally clean and crisp (the freshest copy we have ever seen), folio (11 × 17ins, 280 x 440mm) smart modern half calf with additional blanks, marbled boards. An excellent copy. The Second Edition (reduced text but identical illustrations to the First) of which, Lowndes suggests many were destroyed and damaged by fire.
