[8], 44, 168pp. Contemporary calf, tooled in gilt and blind, gilt supralibros of Francis Egerton to boards, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece, marbled edges. Rubbed and scored, spine chipped and dulled. Marbled endpapers, recent bookplate of Eric Gerald Stanley to FEP, scattered spotting. The first edition of Danish linguist and philologist Rasmus Kristian Rask's (1787-1832) grammar of the Anglo-Saxon language. The work was translated into English in 1830. Eric Gerald Stanley (1923-2018), scholar of Old English literature, sometime Rawlinson and Bosworth Professor of Anglo-Saxon at the University of Oxford. . First edition. 8vo.
