J. B. Lippincott Co., 1900. Hardcover. Near Very Good. Bound in tan cloth with red and black illustrated cover. Overall moderately soiled, spine a bit more so. Crown and foot of spine cloth has frayed. Corners are barely bumped. Front interior hinge is showing a tad of webbing, but still a very tight text block. Seventeen b/w illustrations on glossy stock. Clean interior pages, no markings at all. 336 pages. Protected in a mylar slip.
Synopsis
An Antarctic Mystery, also known also as The Sphinx of the Ice Fields, is an 1897, two-volume novel by Jules Verne and is a sequel to Edgar Allan Poe's The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket which was published in 1838. It follows the adventures of the narrator and his journey from the Kerguelen Islands onboard the Halbrane.
