Top edge red, xii 288 (2) with 16 tipped in coloured plates with captioned tissue guards and 88 black and white illustrations. The boards are clean and bright with some fading to the spine and a little pushing to the spine tips. Internally, there is a gift inscription dated 1916 to the front free endpaper, a small 1 cm bruise to the bottom edge of p176 not affecting the image and with no loss and occasional very light marking. Fore-edge and the first few pages affected by some very light foxing, otherwise a very good copy of this attractive edition. Publishers orange cloth with black lettering to the spine and front board. Small gilt stamped school badge to the front board. School prize label, dated 1942, on the front free endpaper. In the scarce original colour illustrated dustwrapper. A couple of small chips to the edge of the wrapper and the spine a bit toned but overall in very good condition.
