About This Item

Boston: Little, Brown & Co, 1939. First Edition. Hardcover. Good-/Very Good. 1st printing. Pictorial cloth. 366pp. Illustrated by Tom Lea. Appendices. This copy is inscribed by the illustrator & by 2 or 3 known individuals, but not by Dobie. On the ffep Joe M. Evans, noted cowboy author, has a nice six-line inscription signed & dated in 1942. On a preliminary blank page R. M. or K. M. Walthall has signed with best wishes. Also on this page Tom Lea has signed "and all good wishes." Near bottom of this page is a 6-line inscription signed by Ann B. Neuman who says that Mr. Neuman was a close friend of Dobie & gave the latter many stories. Therefore, an unusual multiple association copy. The unfavorable news is that the back cover of this copy has a tideline stain on a lower quadrant. There is typical fading to spine corners & bit on top edge of front cover. Some fraying to spine top/bottom & bottom edge front cover. All that said, your dealer paid a packet for this copy & so the price is still considerable because of the associations. Some professional restoration would work well if undertaken by a new owner. So, good- in vg dj with small price clip. A great "read!" McV A7 a (1).
