About This Item

St. Paul, MN: Graywolf Press, 1996. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Scooter Libby's first and, thus far, only novel, written in his relatively peaceful years as a managing partner in a Washington, D.C., law firm before becoming a presidential assistant to George W. Bush and chief of staff and national security advisor to Vice President Cheney, followed by his 2007 conviction and later commutation on charges of perjury. This is a crime-thriller set in a blizzard in northern Japan in 1903 and features the apprentice, charged with running a crowded inn in its owner's absence, and who becomes involved with a group of mysterious travelers and is plunged into a storm of passion and violence resulting in murder. Boards and text are clean, tight, square; dustjacket exceptionally free of surface and edgewear. Very Collectable.
