Well illustrated with 36 coloured plates, (including three of potatoes, two of other root vegetables, two of mushrooms, ten of cereals and grasses, many other agricultural and horticultural crops including melons), quarto, pp xii, 276, some age-toning and foxing throughout though the plates are clear of foxing, smartly re-bound in green cloth, very good. . Cloth. Very Good.

London: Printed for Private Circulation, 1855. Illustrated with line drawings, a folding coloured map, a folding map printed in blue, pp xx, 507, all edges gilt, a little occasional foxing, otherwise clean internally, contemporary half morocco, marbled sides, raised bands, only very slight signs of wear. The publication was authorised by Queen Victoria who had purchased the manuscript after the author's death. The printing was very limited, probably under 150 copies. There are extensive lists of plants and animals, extending to eighty pages. [A unique copy, extra illustrated with 25 original topographical photographs, probably by the original owner - Charles F.S. Chambers - whose armorial bookplate appears on the front endpaper. Though the images are small, (mainly c. 60mm x 65mm), they have great charm and are largely in good condition with only slight fading. Norwood; Stationers' Hall Court, London: The Author; Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent & Co Ltd Quarto, illustrated with 22 plates, pp (4], 116, deckle-edged, top edge gilt, endpapers a bit foxed and age-toned, the ten sepia plates are foxed on their versos but the plates thenselves show only very faint traces, the blank pages facing the plates have a little offsetting, there is a marginal tear to the plate facing page 37, green cloth slightly scuffed, the corners rubbed, the spine slightly pulled at head and tail. Overall though still a very presentable copy. SCARCE. [The book contains 22 leaves of plates. Ten of these are etched views of gardens or features of garden scenery, one of them named as a view of Keszthely. Four volumes, octavo, illustrated with 192 colour plates, some intermittent foxing internally but nowhere too offensive, pages slightly age-toned, each front endpaper has a name neatly cut from the upper corner, and all endpapers have slight sellotape residue markings; red cloth in very good condition with extremely bright gilt lettering on the spines, the dustwrappers are slightly worn and chipped but not price-clipped and each with the publisher's price sticker of 18/-. They are now protected in a removable clear cover. Volume I - the fore-edge is slightly marked. Volume II - a small marginal tear to page viii and a slight mark to the inner margin of page 116. Volume III - slightly more foxing than the other volumes. Volume IV -a slightly open hinge at pages 96/97. Overall a quite attractive set.. New Edition. Cloth. Good/Slightly worn and frayed.
