About This Item

Washington, DC: Government Printing Office, 1903. Hardcover. Small 4to. Rebound in terra cotta cloth with gilt spine lettering. Pp. 279-358 (complete). Maps, numerous full-page plates (many color). Fine/very good. Newish binding is bright and superb, while text block shows mild age toning and occasional edgewear, with title page (only) soiled and edgeworn; ownership signature on front pastedown. Tight and nice first edition of this second portion (complete unto itself) of the "Annual Report of the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution Showing the Operations, Expenditures, and Condition of the Institution for the Year Ending June 30, 1901," the first portion which consisted on William Henry Holmes' "Flint Implements and Fossil Remains from a Sulphur Springs at Afton, Indian Territory" as well as other reports. The color plate images of Native American pottery are superb.
