Original red cloth, lettered and illustrated in gilt, top edge gilt; pp. xxii, [2], 199, plates after photographs, illustrations in the text; offsetting from endpapers, text a little foxed, as usual; othwerwise very good. First edition of this impressive work by the arms and armour specialist, who catalogued the holdings at Oxford and was in charge of the armouries in the Tower of London. Later he became instrumental in putting the Imperial War Museum on a modern footing.
