Second, revised edition; first was in 1960; the content comes from the A.W. Mellon Lectures in the Fine Arts at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, given by the Austrian-English art historian in 1956. Super 8vo (7-3/4" x 10-1/4"), brown cloth with black buckram quarter, gilt lettering on spine, faded gray topstain, light shelf wear including bumped corners, printed on glossy stock, light tan staining to end papers. Page-reference note by former owner on ffep, margin brackets and/or other small marks observed on approximately 10 pages. Heavy because of the glossy paper; orders may incur shipping surcharge, depending on destination.
