An ex-library copy of a facsimile of the original 1865 report of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln in that same year, and on the subsequent trial of 8 of the conspirators. Includes 2 frontis photos, a facsimile of the original testimony, title page, map, and a couple of drawings. With an introduction by Philip Van Doren Stern. --- In brown cloth-covered boards with spine titling in gilt and cover fillets in blind. Jacket features drawing of John Wilkes Booth jumping down to the stage from Lincoln's booth after the shot was fired. --- Evidence of former ownership by Denver Public Library consists of rubberstampings (including deaccession statement), stickers, and mylar jacket protector taped to covers. One leaf near front of book appears to have been cut out, otherwise a sound, fully readable copy.; Ex-Library; Tall Octavo - 9 to 10 in. tall; xxiv, 422 pages .
